Thanks to Markson Pianos for their excellent refurbishment work on our grand pianos, and the very impressive as-new rebuild of the Bechstein grand which has been such an asset in our chapel this year.

There are a lot of pianos in Markson Pianos, more than 40. All sorts ranging from luxurious grand pianos to basic domestic uprights. Seven composers and artists have each composed a work for multiple pianos to be performed by a large ensemble of pianists in the piano shop over the course of the evening of 4th November, a unique opportunity to explore the possibilities of a large number of pianos. Special thanks to Stephanie Romig who organised this event as part of the centenary of Markson Pianos.

My piano teacher suggested Markson Pianos when I decided to buy a new piano, so I visited the showroom a little while ago looking for an upright piano. They were very helpful and importantly also left me alone to wander around and play all the pianos for as long as I liked. Whilst there, not surprisingly I fell in love with the sound and feel of the Bechstein and Hoffman. Also, I really liked the grand pianos as opposed to the uprights because you can look over the top. So I decided to wait and buy what I really wanted – a Hoffman baby grand. I recently sold my house and the first item I wanted to arrive at was my new piano. I rang Markson and was given a very competitive price and they must have moved heaven and earth to get it to me in a WEEK from Germany. It arrived exactly on time, with no hassle and I am absolutely delighted. Working with Markson Pianos was a delight from the beginning to the end, they are a very friendly and competent Company – quite rare these days! How delighted we are to have the Yamaha U1 in the Chapel Royal Hampton Court Place. It has been a great addition to the musical repertoire in the Chapel providing the opportunity for choristers, music staff and visiting instrumentalists to give Sunday lunchtime music recitals that regularly attract audiences of over 100 people. London Transport Museum is delighted to have the support of Markson Pianos Ltd on our recently launched ‘Transported by Culture: Music’ programme, through the long-term loan of a stunning Baby Grand piano. Visitors to London Transport Museum will be able to enjoy live performances from some of London’s most talented young classical and jazz musicians, including pianist Vusala Babayeva – set against the unique backdrop of our iconic collection. Part of the Museum’s work as an education and heritage charity, the programme has been developed to equip young classical and jazz musicians at the start of their careers with real-world performance experience.

Thirty three years ago, when our daughter first started piano lessons, we hired a piano from Marksons, on the recommendation of a musical friend. It was a beautiful light oak Hellas piano, golden in looks and in tone. Over the years it has encouraged a passion for music in all the members of our household and played its part at weddings,, christenings and every family Christmas. From the beginning, Marksons have treated us with consideration and courtesy. So much so that when we sadly decided it was time to return it to store, they offered to sell it to us at a very fair price. So we could keep our old friend forever.
