Case Study

A bespoke Bosendorfer 214VC

Project: Private residence

Back in 2019, we had the pleasure of assisting a couple who visited our showroom to experience the uniqueness and unparalleled quality of our Bosendorfer range of pianos. Having then chosen to invest in this famous Austrian manufacturer, the next stage was to explore which model, design and any customized additions would best suit the space in their recently built home.

After precise consultation with the manufacturer involving various CAD drawings, veneer samples and piano templates, it was decided on a 214VC model in a Louis XVI design which was to be finished in a rare polished burr walnut. With a completion time of just over a year, this instrument was to be built entirely from scratch. The unique curvature of the body and legs as well as the floral decorations were completely hand carved and to further accentuate the fusion of baroque and neoclassical traditions, the client requested the various decorations to be hand-painted in 24 carat gold leaf.

A matching adjustable piano stool was also commissioned and the instrument was fitted with the market-leading Yamaha Enspire Pro self-play system after careful consultation with the client’s custom AV supplier.

The clients were delighted with their unique and truly one of a kind, handcrafted grand piano.
